Hog Roast Rye caters for Park Volunteers

When you are taking a pleasant stroll around a well-maintained park, it’s easy to forget that the manicured lawns, neatly trimmed hedges and blooming flowerbeds don’t just appear by magic. It is down to the hard work and commitment of a large team of people on a daily basis that makes public parks and gardens peaceful and appealing places to be. A lot of the people who work their green fingers to the bone to keep rose bushes pruned, lawns mowed, and flowers watered, do so on a voluntary basis and very often their only reward for all of their hard work is the enjoyment other people get from it. This was certainly the case for the 20 loyal volunteers under the supervision of Duncan, a Park Ranger who would not have been able to manage to keep his park in order if it wasn’t for their help. That was why he decided it was high time they deserved a proper reward for all of their toil, and he hired Hog Roast Rye to provide it!

Duncan came to us because he wanted a catering company who are adept at cooking outdoors and who use ingredients that are as fresh and locally-sourced as the tomatoes and peppers growing in the park’s greenhouse. Hog Roast Rye were the only mobile caterers in the area who met these two essential criteria! And so, without further ado we dispatched one of our skilled chefs and an industrious catering assistant to set up our mobile kitchen in a nice sunny spot next to the park’s herb garden. Our catering team are so good at what they do, and our cooking methods are so efficient and economical, our diligent duo were more than capable providing a tasty treat for 20 people!

Duncan was delighted to see how much his generous gardeners were enjoying Salads4themselves and they relished the opportunity to put down their trowels and watering cans for the afternoon and let Hog Roast Rye be the only ones working hard in the park! They loved the food and appreciated the gesture immensely. Their reward for transforming the park from an overgrown mess into the lovely landscaped Eden it is today may have been long overdue, but as soon as they all tasted our slow roasted pork, they all agreed that it was worth the wait!
